Laboratories

CALT aims to lead laser based research in Croatia and the wider region. It will be committed to scientific excellence ranging from the fields of nano- and bio- science, quantum technology, material science, plasma research, and interdisciplinary research. CALT aims to maximize the benefits of research by advancing fundamental knowledge and education, and contributing to better public policy, improved health protection, improved energy sources, food quality, and secure communication, which will contribute to economic prosperity, social cohesion, international development, community identity, and the quality of life.

CALT will build on the strengths and share the knowledge created through four domains targeting specific research topics:

1. Quantum technology
   • National laboratory for time and frequency
   • Laboratory for quantum simulators and sensors
   • Molecular spectroscopy laboratory
2. Plasma technology
   • Laboratory for plasma processing
   • Laboratory for extreme light sources
   • Laboratory for laser microstructuring
3. Nano- and bio-systems
   • Laboratory for optical characterization of materials
   • Laboratory for nano-characterization and painting
4. Ultrafast dynamics
   • Laboratory for femtochemistry 
   • Laboratory for material femtophysics
   • Laboratory for surface femtophysics
