Quantera 2021 project
The first research project based on CALT infrastructure has been approved for funding. It is a Quantera 2021 project led by dr. sc. Neven Šantić.
QuantERA (ERA-NET Cofund in Quantum Technologies) consortium announced in May the third call for proposals in the field of quantum information and communication sciences and technologies, co-financed by the European Commission. 36 research funding organizations from 27 countries participated in the call, and 128 transnational project proposals with a total budget of € 132 million were submitted. After the two-level evaluation process, a total of 39 project proposals were accepted.
For the first time, the list of approved projects includes one in which the Croatian research team is participating. Dr. sc. Neven Šantić will lead the Croatian part of the research within the project NImSoQ: New Imaging and control Solutions for Quantum processors and metrology, which is conducted in cooperation with partners from Poland and Germany. The aim of the project is the design, prototyping and validation through the use in cutting-edge research of a new camera adapted to the requirements of reading and control of qubits in atomic systems. This camera, along with a dedicated control system, will be a key device that will enable the implementation of advanced quantum algorithms, protocols with multiqubit operations and debugging architectures based on qubits of cold atoms or trapped ions.
