Nobel Laureate Prof. T. W. Hänsch supports CALT
Prof. T. W. Hänsch, Nobel Prize Laureate in Physics in 2005 in the field of laser spectroscopy has acknowledged the importance of CALT project.
Prof. Theodor Wolfgang Hänsch was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2005 for his contribution to the development of laser-based precision spectroscopy, including the optical frequency comb technique. In his letter of support to the CALT project, Prof. T. W. Hänsch stresses the importance of development of techniques for precise time and frequency measurement, and supports the activities of scientists of the Institute of Physics aimed towards the development of quantum atomic clock and precision spectroscopy based on the optical frequency comb.
